TEXAS SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR MEDIA RELEASE:

Rishika Porandla, a Coppell High School junior, received 2 national awards at the Science & Engineering Fair: U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Science Champion Award and U.S. Stockholm Junior Water Prize: Award for Excellence in a Water-Related Project.

She mathematically proved and programmed a quasi-periodic prediction algorithm modeling an unexplored form of latitude-specific climate change caused by Earth’s precessional cycles.

As quoted by Holly Anderson, the Coppell High School Science Fair Coordinator: “Rishika’s creative approach to understanding climate change and how she used the existing data to find new patterns and apply it in a way that allowed for a new model to be created really helped her stand out among other projects. This was not a basic science fair project! She took a novel approach to investigating climate change.”
