Public school science and math curriculums are severely lacking sufficient astronomy content, and the physics classes that do exist shy away from the rigorous, computational aspects of astrophysics. Frankly, you cannot effectively study physics without the infusion of astronomy concepts, neither can you practically understand higher-level calculus without the application of orbital and galactic kinematics and dynamics.
This comprehensive, personalized, and yet still understandable, curriculum is curated for both a middle school and high school audience and delves into astronomy and astrophysics at a deeper, more conceptual level than available online courses. Best of all, it's free of cost, easily accessible, and new lessons are added everyday. Follow the course from 1.1 to 10.5 to learn the ins and outs of amateur astrophysics.
Lessons are added daily.
This course consists of a comprehensive astronomy and astrophysics curriculum with 10 units of materials. The units build off of each other and involve a variety of media, not limited to videos, study guides, assignments, interactive activities, and printables. There are two versions of the curriculum: Middle School & High School.
The middle school coursework involves more observational aspects rather than computational and veers away from any advanced science or math. Learners in elementary or middle school can utilize this curriculum to gain a strong understanding of the geometry and dynamics of objects in the solar system and beyond, while learners in highschool can employ the high school curriculum for rigorous physics, chemistry, and calculus-based concepts. The middle school curriculum provides an introduction and full, amateur immersion into astronomy, while the high school curriculum goes beyond the coursework in AP Physics 1, 2, and C.
