Dr. Eric Heller, Harvard University
Our outreach mentorship team consists of former NASA SEES and SSP interns, university students, and TAS subject matter experts who have conducted extensive research projects of their own.
NASA telescope data is accessible, yet complex and difficult for an amateur astrophysicist to navigate without guidance.
Explore a novel research inquiry over the time-period of your choice, as a high-school mentor and TAS subject matter experts guide you through the process. Your final abstract can be eligible for publishing!
Spacetime Archives sponsors research projects relating to observational and computational astronomy, classical physics, aerospace engineering, and earth sciences. We are committed to giving you a researching experience that fulfills your passion and sets you on the path to publication. Participate in a program built for students, by students.
Admission is NOT guaranteed and depends on the number of mentors available to assist. You may be placed on a waitlist if we reach full student capacity.
If you are interested in participating in the Student Research Fellowship as a student mentor, visit our JOIN page for more information! This program is conducted in partnership with NASA and Texas Astronomical Society.
Please reach us at rishika@spacetimearchives.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Yes! Spacetime Archives will cover all costs relating to observatory/lab usage, database access, and abstract submission. Science shouldn't pick your pockets.
For some research projects, yes! Our JTAS officers are affiliated with numerous universities from prior collaborations and often connect students and professors to discuss more complex areas of the research.
All United States middle and high schoolers are eligible for this fellowship. This program has a duration of you and your mentor's choice, but traditionally our projects are conducted over a period of three months.
A number of things! In the general three-month researching period, the projects are most suitable for abstract submission to notable scientific conferences and student journals. We are currently sending our Fall 2023 students to conferences like IEEE and AGU Fall 2023.
Of course not. This is an introductory program with material curated for your individual skill level.
We try to accept most students that apply in order to bypass the exclusivity of most student research programs. However, the percentage depends on our mentor availability. In Fall 2023, we accepted 60% of applicants.
The Spacetime Archives Student Research Fellowship is entirely virtual and synchronous commitments are limited. The research program lasts for a minimum of three months, where the first two weeks consist of introductory/background information assignments, followed by rigorous data collection and analysis. The last 2-3 weeks of the program are dedicated for abstract writing and submission to scientific conferences.
February 16, 2024. You will be sent an email with introductory information and required forms.
